Free Mouse Drag Test Online

Does your mouse let go of items while you are still holding the button? This free Mouse Drag Test helps you check. Drag a dot into a ring, and the tool records how the drag went.

You do not need to set anything up. Press and hold the dot, move it to the ring, and release.

What Is the Mouse Drag Test?

The Mouse Drag Test is a simple online tool for checking how your mouse behaves during a click-and-hold drag. The page shows a glowing dot on the left and a dashed ring on the right. Your job is to move the dot into the ring.

The tool says it directly: hold the button down the whole way. If the dot lets go while you are still holding, your mouse button may be faulty.

How to Use the Mouse Drag Test

  1. Place your cursor on the dot.
  2. Press and hold your mouse button.
  3. Move the dot into the dashed ring.
  4. Release the button inside the ring.
  5. Check the message at the top. A successful drop shows a result such as “Nice! Dropped in 1.32 s.”

Click New target to get a new ring position and try again. Click Reset to start over.

What the Results Mean

The tool shows six values below the drag area:

  • Successful drags: how many times you dropped the dot in the ring.
  • Missed drags: how many drags did not end as a successful drop.
  • Accuracy: your success rate. For example, 6 successful drags and 0 missed drags show 100%.
  • Last drag time: how long your most recent drag took, in seconds.
  • Best time: your fastest successful drag so far.
  • Last distance: how far the dot traveled in your last drag, in pixels.

A timer in the top corner also runs while you drag.

Why Test Mouse Dragging?

Dragging needs the button to stay pressed for the entire movement. A simple click does not test this. Dragging is part of everyday work:

  • Moving files between folders
  • Selecting text
  • Rearranging items in apps and games
  • Dragging sliders and windows

If the button releases too early during these tasks, a dedicated drag test makes the problem easier to spot.

Tips for Getting Reliable Results

  • Repeat the test. One missed drag tells you little. Click New target and run several drags before drawing conclusions.
  • Keep your grip steady. Hold the button firmly from pickup to drop.
  • Compare time with distance. Longer drags take more time, so check “Last distance” before comparing times.
  • Use Reset for a fresh start. Reset clears the session so you can test again, for example after changing your mouse or its settings.

Mouse Drag Test FAQs

Does a missed drag always mean my mouse is broken?
No. The tool only says your button may be faulty if the dot drops while you are still holding. A single miss can come from a slip or a stray movement. Run several drags to see whether it keeps happening.

Is a faster drag time better?
Not necessarily. The tool tracks time as a reference point, and the goal is a clean drag. Use “Best time” to compare your own attempts.

Why does the ring move when I click New target?
Each new target places the ring in a different spot. This gives you drags of different lengths, so you can test more than one movement.

What does “Last distance” measure?
It shows how far the dot moved in your most recent drag, in pixels.

How do I clear my results?
Click Reset to start over.
